Pastor Greg Magruder came to pastor Parkview Baptist Church in August of 2000. He is married to Karen (Chapman) and has three grown children; Wes, Olysha, and Andrew. Andrew is a Senior (2010) at Gainesville High School and plays soccer and lacrosse. Karen teaches the 4th grade gifted students at Archer Community School.
Pastor Magruder is a graduate of Georgetown College, KY (BA English) and of Southewestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX (MDiv). He is currently enrolled at the Robert Webber Institute of Worship Studies, Orange Park, FL working on his doctorate.
Pastor Magruder has led the church to be community-minded, mission-oriented, and purpose-driven. The church host sixteen plus community groups including AA, NA, Al-Anon and the International Learning Center. The church actively supports missions through its giving and ministry projects. A strong proponent of building disciples, Greg has led the church to develop on-going discipleship training for adults, youth and children. The CLASS system leads new members to become purpose driven Christians actively using their spiritual gifts in ministry and witness.
Pastor Magruder came to Florida from Logan, Ohio where he pastored the First Baptist Church of Logan. He also has pastored in Oklahoma. The son of a Southern Baptist Home Missionary, Magruder was born in New Orleans, LA and grew up in Ohio and western New York. He taught and coached in public and private schools for ten years before becoming a minister. He is happy to be in Florida and proud to call himself a Gator fan.
